The Current Flood Situation In Germany Dfv President Warns Of Further Escalation

The current flood situation in Germany: DFV President warns of further escalation

The situation in the flood areas remains tense, and the German Firefighters' Association (DFV) is warning of further escalation due to the persistent rainfall.

DFV President Karl-Heinz Banse said on Thursday evening that the situation was "very serious" in many areas and that "the danger is not yet over." He appealed to the population to continue to stay informed about the situation and to follow the instructions of the authorities.

The heavy rainfall has led to flooding in many parts of Germany, especially in Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia. Several rivers have burst their banks, flooding streets and houses. In some places, the situation is life-threatening.

The DFV is coordinating the relief efforts of the volunteer fire brigades and other emergency services.

Banse praised the great commitment of the emergency services, who have been working tirelessly for days to help those affected. "The solidarity and willingness to help is enormous," said Banse. "But the situation remains challenging."

The DFV called on the federal and state governments to provide further support to the affected areas. "We need more manpower, more equipment and more financial resources to cope with this disaster," said Banse.

The weather forecast for the coming days does not offer any relief.

The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts further heavy rainfall in the affected areas. The DWD has issued a weather warning for the entire weekend.
